Using open-source data, this documentary reveals how Chinese influencers are persuading people from across the country to \u201ccolonize\u201d the province.\nHundreds of social media clips promote Xinjiang, highlighting the financial benefits of settling there. Investigations by MIT OFFENEN DATEN show that these influencers, who appear to promote Xinjiang as a place of opportunity, are in fact multipliers of Chinese state propaganda and of President Xi Jinping\u2019s vision.\nWhile Uyghurs are sent to \u201cre-education\u201d camps or relocated to eastern China, the government actively encourages Han Chinese to move to Xinjiang \u2014 officially to fight separatism and religious extremism.
