No other land
Film Screening in German
The award-winning documentary No Other Land tells the story of a community in the West Bank resisting forced displacement planned by the Israeli occupation. The collaboration between a Palestinian-Israeli group of activists and committed filmmakers presents a unique piece of filmed contemporary history that raises pressing questions about the Middle East conflict.
Young Palestinian activist Basel Adra has been fighting since childhood to preserve his home community of Masafer Yatta in the West Bank. His family and the dedicated local community have resisted the planned eviction for decades. They record as much as possible of the events and of the people in the village, whose land has been declared a military training zone. When Basel Adra meets Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham, they begin to document the resistance against the Israeli occupation together. In front of the camera, they reflect on their thoughts and emotions, the complexity of the situation, and their respective roles as Palestinian and Israeli experiencing the conflict from different perspectives.
