Africa and the colonial challenge

African history has never seen such rapid changes as in the period from 1880 to 1935.

In fact, the most significant, dramatic and tragic changes took place between 1890 and 1910, a period characterised by the conquest and occupation of almost the entire African continent by imperial powers and the establishment of the colonial system. The period after 1910 was characterised above all by the consolidation and exploitation of the system.

It is a real revolution that will sweep away the entire world of ideas and beliefs and a secular way of life. You are confronting a people with sudden change. And there it is: the entire population is forced to adapt or die without any preparation.

What is the attitude of Africans towards the end of colonialism, which brings with it a fundamental change in the type of relationships that ceased to exist between us and Europeans three centuries ago?

Europeans therefore no longer want to do without trade, but want to pursue a comprehensive policy that focuses directly on Africa.
